The 25-year law enforcement veteran also is a distinguished firearms expert, a certified investigator of officer-involved shootings, and has military police and corrections certification.
He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Louisiana State University and is a United States Navy war veteran of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.
He is the author of "Things My Daughters Need to Know: A Cop and Father's View of Sex, Relationships and Happiness" and "No Place for Race: Why We Need to Address Economic and Social Factors That Are Crushing Us Every Day."
